The Ministry of Education has welcomed the call by the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference for a transparent and comprehensive review of the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
In a statement signed by Minister Haruna Iddrisu, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to merit‑based placement and continuous improvement of the system. It announced the establishment of a Technical Working Committee to undertake a thorough review, aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the placement process.
The release emphasised that no parent or candidate should pay money for placement, urging the public to report any misconduct or irregularities. It further assured stakeholders that the Ministry remains dedicated to ensuring fairness and equity in school admissions.
The Ministry noted that the CSSPS has been instrumental in expanding access to secondary education, but acknowledged the need for reforms to address concerns raised by parents, students, and civil society.
By aligning with the Bishops’ Conference’s call, the Ministry signalled its readiness to engage stakeholders in building a placement system that is transparent, credible, and responsive to the aspirations of Ghanaian families.
