Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has outlined major developments in Ghana’s digital and communications sector during the latest edition of the Government Accountability Series.
Addressing stakeholders, the Minister announced that television stations operating on the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) platform will be required to pay a monthly fee of US$7,000 beginning January 2027. He explained that the measure is aimed at sustaining the platform and ensuring improved service delivery across the broadcasting industry.
Hon. George also highlighted the achievements of Ghana Post in expanding its service portfolio, noting that the state postal agency successfully delivered more than 85,000 passports to citizens between January and July 2026. He described this as a significant milestone in enhancing access to essential public services and demonstrating the role of digital and logistics infrastructure in national development.
The Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s digital ecosystem through reforms, investments and partnerships that promote accountability, innovation and efficiency. He said the sector’s progress underscored the importance of digital technology in driving governance, service delivery and economic growth.
