The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that more than 13,000 chip‑embedded passports have been printed since the establishment of seven new Passport Application Centres across Ghana.
The centres, located in Bolgatanga, Nalerigu, Damongo, Techiman, Dambai, Goaso, and Sefwi Wiawso, were set up to ease the burden on applicants who previously had to travel long distances to other regions. According to official figures, Techiman recorded the highest number of passports printed at 4,578, followed by Bolgatanga (2,784) and Goaso (1,931).
The Ministry explained that the initiative ensures residents in the Upper East, Ahafo, Bono East, North East, Oti, Savannah, and Western North Regions can now access passport services closer to home. This decentralization, officials say, reflects government’s commitment to improving public service delivery.
The campaign, themed “Resetting & Serving You Better,” underscores efforts to modernize Ghana’s passport system and enhance convenience for citizens.
