The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has formally inducted the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Christian Agyare, as Chair of the University’s Technology and Consultancy Centre.
Congratulating Prof. Agyare, the Minister wished him success in his new role and assured KNUST of government’s continued support. He announced that resources from the GETFund would be directed towards the completion of the University’s Teaching Hospital, which is expected to enhance teaching and learning while providing healthcare services to surrounding communities.
Hon. Iddrisu further urged the University to strengthen its focus on STEM education and intensify collaboration with hostel owners to provide affordable accommodation for students.
Prof. Agyare, in his acceptance remarks, pledged to advance the University’s mandate by channeling more resources into science, research, TVET, Artificial Intelligence, and emerging technologies. He also emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement and assured the Ministry that discussions with hostel owners on affordable student housing would continue.
The induction highlights KNUST’s growing role in driving innovation and underscores government’s commitment to strengthening higher education infrastructure and research capacity.
