Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed‑Mubarak, has outlined key achievements in Ghana’s security and public safety sector at the latest edition of the Government Accountability Series, highlighting progress in recruitment and migration control.
The Minister disclosed that the first 10,000 successful applicants to the Police, Fire, Prisons and Immigration Services are currently undergoing training, with another 10,000 recruits expected to commence training next year from the existing pool of successful applicants.
He further revealed that by July 2026, a total of 3,241 migrant beggars had been repatriated to neighbouring countries. Of this figure, 2,281 were repatriated by the end of 2025, with an additional 960 returned between January and July 2026.
Officials say the measures reflect government’s determination to strengthen law enforcement capacity, enhance public safety, and address social challenges linked to irregular migration.
