Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed‑Mubarak, has outlined key achievements in Ghana’s security and public safety sector at the latest edition of the Government Accountability Series, underscoring progress in recruitment and law enforcement.
The Minister disclosed that the first 10,000 successful applicants to the Police, Fire, Prisons and Immigration Services are currently undergoing training, with another 10,000 recruits expected to commence training next year.
Meanwhile, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has reported significant results from its operations. Officials confirmed 217 arrests and 165 prosecutions, alongside the interception of more than 8.5 tonnes of narcotic drugs and 45.4 million Tramadol tablets.
Authorities also recovered 73 tainted assets, seized over 19 kilogrammes of gold in suspected drug‑money laundering cases, and restrained assets and cash worth more than GH¢6.9 million and US$440,000.
Officials say the measures reflect government’s determination to strengthen public safety, dismantle criminal networks, and ensure accountability in the fight against drug trafficking and organised crime.
