The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), in partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies, has announced the opening of applications for the Youth Climate Action Fund Phase 2.0, aimed at supporting youth-led projects that tackle climate change and environmental challenges across the city.
In a press release issued Monday, the Assembly said eligible youth groups, youth-led organisations, and youth-serving organisations can apply for microgrants ranging from US$1,000 to US$5,000 to implement practical climate interventions aligned with Accra’s climate priorities. Applications must be submitted no later than Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The initiative is designed to provide young people aged 15 to 24 with financial and institutional support to develop innovative, community-based climate projects. Proposed interventions are expected to contribute to climate change mitigation, environmental sustainability, and the resilience of communities within the metropolis.
Applicants may propose projects in areas such as:
- Environmental sanitation
- Waste reduction and recycling
- Urban greening
- Climate education
- Food-waste recovery
- Community clean-up exercises
- Rain gardens
- Energy efficiency
The AMA stressed that every proposal must include a clear budget between US$1,000 and US$5,000, at least one defined output, and one measurable outcome with numerical targets to enable effective monitoring and impact assessment.
Applicants are required to download the official application form from www.ama.gov.gh, complete it, and submit proposals consistent with the city’s climate priorities.
The Assembly encouraged youth groups across Accra to seize the opportunity to develop practical solutions that will improve environmental conditions and strengthen climate resilience in their communities.
