The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has issued a public notice alerting citizens to the circulation of AI-generated videos on social media falsely featuring its Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, Esq.
GoldBod cautioned that it will never request money, transfers, fees, or banking/mobile money details through social media platforms, phone calls, or messaging apps. The Authority urged the public not to engage with such fraudulent requests and to report suspicious activity through its official communication channels.
The notice emphasized the importance of vigilance in the digital age, warning that cybercriminals are increasingly exploiting AI technology to deceive unsuspecting individuals. Citizens were reminded to “Stay vigilant. Verify before you trust.”
This development highlights the growing challenge of cyber fraud and the need for stronger public awareness campaigns to protect consumers and institutions from emerging digital threats.
