The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, today addressed the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Ghana (PMAG) at the PMAG Day 2026, where he reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthening local pharmaceutical manufacturing through innovation, strategic procurement, and investment in quality systems.
“Government is encouraging pharmaceutical manufacturers to take advantage of financing available through the Ghana EXIM Bank to expand production, improve standards, and emerge as competitive manufacturers serving Ghana, the subregion, and beyond,” the Minister stated.
He underscored the importance of building a resilient pharmaceutical sector capable of meeting national health needs while contributing to regional supply chains. The Minister emphasised that government’s policy direction is focused on empowering indigenous manufacturers to drive innovation, enhance quality assurance, and position Ghana as a hub for pharmaceutical excellence in West Africa.
The PMAG Day 2026 provided a platform for industry stakeholders to engage government on strategies to accelerate growth in the sector, with discussions centering on financing, regulatory frameworks, and opportunities for public‑private collaboration.
