President John Dramani Mahama has assented to the new Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) Act, repealing the former Ghana Investment Promotion Centre law and ushering in a fresh chapter for Ghana’s business and investment climate.
The legislation is designed to reposition Ghana as a premier investment destination in Africa and beyond, introducing streamlined procedures that cut bureaucratic delays and make it easier for investors to establish and operate businesses in the country.
The new Act strengthens investor protection by reinforcing the legal framework, giving both local and foreign investors greater confidence and security. It also enhances institutional capacity by empowering the Authority with broader mandates to promote, facilitate, and monitor investments more effectively.
In addition, the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority is tasked with supporting local enterprises, helping Ghanaian businesses scale up and participate meaningfully in the investment ecosystem.
Officials say these bold reforms are expected to accelerate economic growth, generate employment, and firmly position Ghana as the leading investment hub in West Africa.
