The Ministry of Health has refuted claims circulating on social media alleging that Ghana has recorded thousands of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) cases.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Unit described the reports, attributed to SABC, as “false, misleading, and should be disregarded.” The publication had claimed that Ghana’s Ebola cases had risen to 2,300 with 930 deaths.
The Ministry stressed that Ghana has not recorded any Ebola cases. It explained that recent visits by the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to points of entry, laboratories, and treatment facilities formed part of routine preparedness measures, not evidence of an outbreak.
Officials urged the public to rely solely on verified information from the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service, cautioning against the spread of unverified reports that could cause fear and panic.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening surveillance and emergency response systems to safeguard public health.
