Mahama Joins ECOWAS Leaders at 69th Ordinary Session in Sierra Leone

President John Dramani Mahama on Sunday participated in the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, the climax of the Community’s Mid‑Year Statutory Meetings.

The summit brought together leaders from across West Africa to deliberate on the state of the Community and consider measures to strengthen regional integration, peace, security, and economic cooperation.

Ahead of the opening, President Mahama joined his fellow leaders in a ceremonial tree‑planting exercise and took part in the commissioning of the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre at Lungi, the venue hosting the high‑level meeting.

The gathering underscored ECOWAS’ commitment to advancing collective security and economic resilience in the sub‑region, while highlighting Sierra Leone’s growing role as a host of regional diplomacy.
