GES Warns Public Against Fake BECE School Selection Notice

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned candidates, parents, and guardians to disregard a fake notice circulating online which claimed that the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) school selection exercise would begin on June 15.

The fabricated document, which bore the GES logo and letterhead, was stamped “FAKE” to alert the public of its inauthenticity. It falsely directed candidates to submit school choices via WhatsApp, a channel not sanctioned by the Service.

GES officials stressed that the official school selection exercise will be announced through proper channels, including the Service’s website, mainstream media, and regional education offices. They urged stakeholders to rely only on verified communications from the Service to avoid misinformation.

The Service further reminded parents and guardians to guide candidates in making informed school choices when the legitimate exercise is launched, emphasizing that the placement process will be conducted strictly in line with established procedures.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to transparency and accountability in the school placement system, warning that any attempt to exploit candidates or parents through fake notices would be met with firm action.
