13 Drivers Arrested for Illegal Use of Sirens on Kasoa-Winneba Highway”

 The Central East Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) has arrested 13 drivers for unlawfully using sirens and emergency lights during a special enforcement exercise along the Kasoa-Winneba Highway.

The operation, conducted at Budumburam, forms part of ongoing measures to enforce road traffic regulations and instill discipline among motorists.

According to the MTTD, the drivers were apprehended for operating sirens and emergency lamps without the requisite authorisation. The Task Force educated the offenders on Regulations 65 and 74 of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2180), before processing them in accordance with the law.

As part of the enforcement, the unauthorised devices were removed from the vehicles. The drivers were issued warning letters and cautioned against repeating the practice.

The Central East Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring strict compliance with traffic laws, stressing that such measures are essential to maintaining order and safety on Ghana’s roads.
