“Lamentation Is Not a Solution” — Civil Service Council Engages Health Ministry on Efficiency Reforms

The Civil Service Council has engaged the Ministry of Health in a bid to strengthen cooperation and drive reforms aimed at improving efficiency within the public sector.

Led by Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, Head of the Civil Service, the delegation paid a familiarization visit to the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to discuss challenges and explore strategies for enhancing service delivery.

During the meeting, Hon. Akandoh underscored inefficiencies within the system, stressing the need for urgency, accountability, and initiative among public officers. He cautioned that delays in implementation continue to hinder progress, urging civil servants to align their work with government priorities. “Lamentation is not a solution,” he declared, calling for a cultural shift to overcome complacency and weak enforcement of rules that risk derailing national development.

Dr. Lawrence A. Kannae, Chairman of the Civil Service Council, reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to supporting the Ministry in improving efficiency. He emphasized that stronger collaboration between the Civil Service and government institutions is essential to addressing implementation challenges and ensuring reforms achieve their intended impact.

The Council also held discussions with the Ministry’s management team to address operational issues and improve coordination, signaling a renewed push for accountability and effectiveness in the public sector.
