Wa : Angry youth attack police station demanding release of persons arrested over flogging incident

Some angry youth in Wa, the regional capital of the Upper West Region, Wednesday night besieged the regional police command to demand the release of their three arrested colleagues in connection with the flogging of two lovers whose sex video leaked.

More than 300 youth hurled stones, cudgels and other crude weapons at the police station and its officers as they demanded the release of their colleagues.
They also burnt tyres during the rumpus.

A team of more than 100 police officers, led by regional commander, DCOP Peter Ndekugiri, used more than two hours to ward off the irate youth.
The Upper West Regional Police Command arrested the three persons in connection with the flogging of two lovers who were seen in a leaked sex video in Wa.

The three arrested are Bushiran Khadir,34, a phone repairer, Issahaku Mahama,70, and Naa Sidiki Osman,52.
According to the Upper West Regional Police Commander DCOP Peter Ndekugri who confirmed the arrest, the three suspects will be arraigned before court after investigations.

He disclosed that the police are on a manhunt for other accomplices in connection with the flogging of the two individuals at the Wa Naa’s palace.
A video circulating on social media showed two lovers separately tied to a pole at the forecourt of the Wa Naa’s Palace and being flogged publicly while residents looked on.
Many have condemned the flogging of the two lovers at the Wa Naa’s palace and called for the arrest of anybody involved in the act
