The Accra Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested three persons in connection with the death of a 26-year-old Liberian national, Austin Tengeeh, following an incident at Lashibi near Sakumono.
According to a press release issued by the Regional Public Affairs Unit on March 2, the incident occurred on Friday, February 27, 2026, at an apartment complex in the area.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had visited his brother at the apartment in the company of his girlfriend. Police say he was allegedly attacked by some residents and members of the public after the caretaker of the apartment reportedly raised an alarm, accusing him of being a thief.
A police patrol team responding to a distress call arrived at the scene and rescued Mr. Tengeeh. He was rushed to the Sakumono Community Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.
His body has since been deposited at the Lashibi Funeral Home for preservation and autopsy.
The police have identified the three suspects in custody as Vincent Adzikah, 38; Francis Amuzu, 44; and William Addison, 34. They are assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court.
A fourth suspect, identified as Enoch Mensah, remains at large. Police say efforts are underway to apprehend him.
In the statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, Ms. Juliana Obeng, the Command cautioned the public against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that acts of mob justice and unlawful assault are criminal offences that undermine due process.
The police further urged residents to report suspected criminal activities to law enforcement agencies and allow lawful procedures to take their course as investigations continue.
