STRANEK congratulates Bagbin on his election as Commonwealth Parliamentary Assoc Prez

The Strategic Thinkers Network Africa, STRANEK-Africa has congratulated Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin for his election into office as President of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association International ( CPA).

In a statement, STRANEK described Mr. Bagbin as an icon who contributed to deepening Ghana’s democracy and good governance, from being a Member of Parliament for Nadowli/Kaleo to occupying the number 3 position as Speaker of Parliament, for lifting the flag of Ghana high with his election as president of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association International.

Speaker Bagbinn was unanimously elected the President of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association International, an organization of over 180 member Parliaments of the commonwealth of nations, at the just-ended 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) hosted by Canada in Halifax.

Speaker Bagbin, until he was elected President, was the Vice-President of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association International.

As President of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association International, Ghana has been allowed to host its 66th Conference in Accra from the 30th of September to the 7th of October 2023.

The election of Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin as President of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association International makes him the head of the association and he will preside over the next CPC in Ghana while also serving as the Chair of the Elections Committee of the Association.

He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Association among other roles and duties constitutionally bestowed on him.

Executive Director of STRANEK Africa Nii Tettey Tetteh noted ”His election to the position of President is a sign of the confidence imposed on him for championing democracy and good governance in Ghana and to a larger extent Africa”.
