The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of six juvenile students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School in connection with the alleged assault of a final-year student of Adisadel College.
According to a police statement, the suspects were handed over to the Kotokuraba Police Station by school authorities on February 20, 2026, following the incident at Pedu Junction earlier that afternoon.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim, Rexford Owusu-Ansah, was attacked after leaving the Cape Coast Stadium at the close of the inter-colleges sports festival. He was reportedly confronted by Aggrey Memorial students who asked if he attended Adisadel College before assaulting him. His two friends managed to escape, but Owusu-Ansah was beaten, kicked to the ground, and robbed of his iPhone 17 Pro Max, GH₵1,400 in cash, and his shoes.
The victim was rushed to the stadium clinic and later referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital, where he was discharged on February 22. A medical report confirmed a fractured nerve bone in his right eye, leaving him unable to open it, with the eyeball appearing displaced.
Police say the victim’s friends, who escaped the attack, have confirmed they can identify the suspects. The Central Regional Command strongly condemned the violence and assured the public that due process will be followed, with the juvenile offenders facing the full rigours of the law.
ASP Patrick Bentum of the Public Affairs Unit reiterated the Service’s commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining safety within educational institutions.
