Police, GFA Strengthen Collaboration to Safeguard Football Integrity

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), yesterday hosted the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kurt Okraku Mantey, and his team at the National Police Headquarters in Accra.

The high-level meeting was aimed at deepening cooperation between the two institutions to enhance sports security and support the development of football in Ghana. Discussions centered on maintaining high ethical standards in football, tackling match manipulation, and addressing the growing challenge of illegal betting.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the integrity of the Ghana Premier League and other domestic competitions. They agreed to strengthen intelligence sharing, investigations, and preventive measures to safeguard the credibility of the sport.

The meeting also explored plans for the development of a modern sporting facility for the Police Service, with both institutions expressing readiness to collaborate closely in advancing these initiatives.

The engagement underscores the shared resolve of the Police Service and the GFA to ensure that football in Ghana remains fair, secure, and a source of national pride.
