The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect seen in a viral video discharging a firearm at a public event held at El-Wak Stadium in Accra on December 28.
The suspect, identified as Abubakari Sadick, popularly known as “Cyborg,” was apprehended on December 29 at Adenta by the Cyber Vetting Team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). He is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
According to the CID, the weapon involved—a Derya MK-12 firearm with registration number 22-GHA-1162—has been retrieved and secured as evidence.
In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, the Police cautioned the public that possession of a registered firearm does not grant the right to discharge it indiscriminately. Violators risk having their licenses revoked and facing legal prosecution.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
The Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining public safety and enforcing firearm regulations, especially during large gatherings and public events.
