Ghana’s Parliament has passed the Tribunals Bill, 2026, a landmark piece of legislation aimed at strengthening the country’s judicial framework and expanding access to specialized adjudication.
The bill, approved during plenary sittings last week, establishes a clearer legal basis for tribunals to handle disputes requiring swift resolution outside the conventional court system. Lawmakers say the measure will ease the burden on the judiciary, improve efficiency, and enhance public confidence in justice delivery.
Parliament’s Media Relations Department confirmed the passage in an official alert, underscoring the bill’s role in modernizing Ghana’s legal architecture. The legislation is expected to provide communities with more responsive mechanisms for resolving civil, commercial, and administrative matters.
The passage of the Tribunals Bill comes at a time when Ghana is marking significant institutional reforms, including the Bank of Ghana’s push to convert Rural Banks into Community Banks. Together, these initiatives reflect a broader national drive to strengthen governance, financial inclusion, and rule of law.
