Parliament Briefed on Progress in Ofankor Domestic Violence Case

 The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has informed Parliament that investigations into the domestic violence case involving 32-year-old Harriet Amuzu of Ofankor in the Greater Accra Region have been completed.

Appearing before the House to respond to questions on the matter, Hon. Lartey disclosed that the suspect has been formally charged with multiple offences and that the case is now progressing through the courts. She noted that the next hearing has been scheduled for March 17, 2026.

The Minister assured Members of Parliament that her Ministry continues to provide support to the victim, including psychosocial counselling and protective services, to safeguard her wellbeing and security.

The update was welcomed by legislators, who emphasized the importance of swift justice and comprehensive victim support in cases of domestic violence. Parliament reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening laws and systems that protect vulnerable individuals and ensure accountability.
