NPP Refers Abronye DC to Disciplinary Committee Over Misconduct Allegations

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially referred its Bono Regional Chairman, Mr. Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, to the National Disciplinary Committee over allegations of misconduct, defamation, and gross indiscipline.

In a statement issued by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP explained that a petition had been submitted outlining various actions by Abronye DC that the party considered not only unbecoming of a senior member but also harmful to the image and unity of the organisation.

Key Allegations
The petition cites three major concerns:

  1. Defamation of a Senior Party Member – Abronye DC is alleged to have insulted Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong with derogatory remarks, claiming “even the elephant has more wisdom than Hon. Agyapong.” The party described these comments as defamatory, unprintable, and damaging to the reputation of both the MP and the NPP.

  2. Baseless Allegations Against the General Secretary – According to the petition, Abronye DC falsely alleged that Mr. Frimpong had compiled a report implicating Hon. Agyapong as a destroyer of the Party and recommending his expulsion. The statement said such claims were false, malicious, and injurious to the integrity of the General Secretary’s office.

  3. Misrepresentation of Committee Findings – The petition further accuses Abronye DC of distorting the findings of a disciplinary committee report and attributing fabricated outcomes to Hon. Agyapong. The party says this act breaches confidentiality, undermines party discipline, and discredits the committee’s work.

Reliefs Sought
The NPP is requesting the National Disciplinary Committee to:

  • Conduct a full and impartial inquiry into the conduct of Abronye DC.

  • Apply appropriate disciplinary sanctions as provided under the Party’s constitution.

Mr. Frimpong stressed that accountability within the party cannot be compromised, as it is essential to maintaining unity, integrity, and credibility.

“The leadership remains committed to fairness, discipline, and the protection of the Party’s democratic values,” the statement concluded.
