Nine Suspects Remanded Over Assault on Police Officers in Obuasi

 The Obuasi Circuit Court has remanded nine suspects into prison custody following a viral video that captured an assault on police officers at the Tweapease Senior High School Park.

The suspects, identified as Joshua Frimpong (alias Joey B), Bannor Williams, Isaac Dwumfour (alias Sporty), Evans Bannor (alias Pressure King), Asiedu Ronald (alias Case Close), Sarfo Alex (alias Okele), Yaw Alex, Obidiaba Desmond, and Agyemang Emmanuel, were arraigned before the court on 8 January 2026. They face charges of assault on public officers.

According to police reports, the incident occurred at the Tweapease Senior High School Park, where the suspects, together with others, attacked officers who were on duty at the location. The confrontation, which was captured on video and widely circulated online, sparked public concern over the safety of law enforcement personnel.

The Obuasi Circuit Court ordered the suspects to be remanded while investigations continue. Authorities have cautioned that individuals who assault police officers will be pursued and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

“This case serves as a reminder that attacks on officers will not be tolerated. Offenders will face the full rigours of justice,” a police statement emphasized.

Police say investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the assault. The incident has reignited calls for stronger measures to protect officers in the line of duty and to deter acts of violence against law enforcement.
