NHIA Disburses GHC392 Million in Claims to Health Facilities

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has released over GHC392 million in claims payments to healthcare providers across the country for December 2025 and January 2026.

According to the Authority, the disbursement reflects its commitment to timely reimbursement of service providers under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). The payments covered vetted claims submitted by health facilities for services rendered to NHIS members in the previous year.

Figures from the Finance Directorate show that GHC301.6 million was paid in December, followed by GHC90.3 million in January, bringing the total to GHC392,031,851.26. Public and private health facilities together accounted for about 80.55 percent of the total amount, while mission facilities received 19.45 percent.

In nominal terms, public facilities received GHC157.1 million, private facilities GHC158.6 million, and mission facilities GHC76.2 million.

The NHIA emphasized that the payments are part of its resolve to ensure healthcare providers continue delivering quality services to NHIS members nationwide.
