The maiden edition of the Annual General Meeting of the National Council of Songhai Chiefs was held on Saturday, 26th November amongst the various Songhai chiefs in all 16 regions of Ghana.
The event was held under the auspices of the President of the National Council of Songhai Chiefs, Chief Mohammed Mohammed Zuna.
This meeting was held in a form of a conference where discussions and deliberations were made amongst 32 present chiefs on the need to develop Songhai individuals and their identities in Ghana.
The special guest of honour, Hon Habibu Saad, the former Mp for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom stressed on the need for the involvement of Songhai leaders in promoting this cause vibrantly and abstaining from conflicts.
There was a fundraising that generated about GHS20, 000 for the Council to aid in attaining its goals and objectives.
Other activities also included the launch of the constitution of the Council and the creation of the youth and women’s wing of the National Council of Songhai chiefs in various jurisdictions across the length and breadth of the country to aid in the effective development of the cause for the Songhai Communities in Ghana.
