The vibrant spirit of Ghana’s Muslim youth was on full display over the weekend as Baina TV held auditions for its upcoming reality programme, The Ummah Show. The two-day event, hosted at the Africana Guest House in Madina, Accra, drew young Muslims from across the capital and beyond, all eager to showcase their talents and earn a spot on the anticipated show.
Far from being just another reality competition, The Ummah Show seeks to highlight the rich cultural heritage, creativity, and confidence of Muslim youth in Ghana. It offers a unique platform for young men and women to express themselves through various art forms rooted in faith and identity.
Audition performances ranged from stirring spoken word pieces and engaging storytelling to soulful Quran recitations and other creative expressions. The diversity and depth of talent on display left a lasting impression on both the audience and the panel of judges.
The judging panel featured respected personalities from the Muslim community, whose task went beyond selecting finalists. Their focus was on identifying individuals with the potential to inspire and uplift, those whose passion and authenticity could resonate with viewers across the country.
Lead judge, King Jalil Sheikh Abdul Rahim, described the auditions as “deeply moving,” praising the originality, spiritual depth, and courage of the participants.
“Todays programme was good and we have tried as much as we can to select or take out the ones we feel have put up a good show” he remarked.
For many contestants, this was their first time performing on a public stage. Yet, their boldness and enthusiasm spoke volumes about the untapped potential within Ghana’s Muslim youth. Several participants shared personal stories of what motivated them to audition, expressing hope that their performances would inspire others when the show airs.
Set to premiere soon on Baina TV, The Ummah Show promises to be more than entertainment. The show is poised to redefine how Muslim youth are seen and celebrated in Ghana.
