The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has strongly condemned the violent assault of a woman in Cape Coast, captured in a disturbing video circulating on social media.
In an official statement issued on Sunday, March 29, 2026, the Ministry described the act as unacceptable and punishable under Ghanaian law, citing the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act 732) and the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has referred the matter to the Ghana Police Service for investigation. The Ministry also confirmed efforts are underway to reach the victim and provide necessary support.
The statement urged the public to report cases of abuse and violence through the Ministry’s Helpline of Hope Call Centre, with toll-free numbers 0800-800-800, 0800-900-900, and 0800-111-222 available for assistance.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the rights of women and children, the Ministry emphasized that gender-based violence has no place in Ghanaian society and pledged to ensure justice for victims.
