Mion MP Raises Alarm Over Extreme Heat During Ramadan

The Member of Parliament for Mion, Hon. Misbahu Mahama Adams, has expressed deep concern over the severe heat conditions currently affecting the Northern Region of Ghana during this year’s Ramadan.

According to the MP, the scorching temperatures have worsened the challenges of fasting, posing serious health risks to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those observing the holy month. He noted that the extreme heat not only threatens the wellbeing of residents but also undermines livelihoods in the region.

Hon. Mahama Adams called on stakeholders, particularly in Northern Ghana, to adopt tree planting as a long-term strategy to combat rising temperatures and desertification. He emphasized that afforestation initiatives could provide sustainable relief, improve environmental resilience, and safeguard communities against the worsening climate conditions.

The MP’s remarks highlight growing concerns about climate change impacts in Ghana’s northern belt, where desertification and heat waves have increasingly disrupted daily life. His appeal adds to ongoing national conversations about environmental protection and the urgent need for collective action.
