The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has strongly condemned the abuse of a young girl captured in a viral video circulating on social media, assuring the public that legal action is underway against the perpetrators.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry confirmed that the case was investigated by the Labadi Police on 31 December 2025. The suspects have since been charged and are expected to appear in court this week. The Accra Regional Office of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) is supervising the case to ensure due process.
MoGCSP reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on child abuse, stating that no circumstance justifies the physical or emotional harm of a child. The Ministry cited violations of the Children’s Act, 1998 (Act 560), and the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act 732), emphasizing that offenders will face the full force of the law.
“Safeguarding the rights and welfare of every child is a collective responsibility,” the statement read. “We call on families, communities, and the public to remain vigilant and committed to ensuring that every child grows up in a secure and protective environment.”
The Ministry urged the public to report suspected cases of abuse through the Domestic Violence Call Centre (0800-111-222), the Helpline of Hope (0800-800-800 / 0800-900-900), or at the nearest police station.
