Man, 23, Arrested for Alleged Murder of Father in Oti Region

Police in the Jasikan District have arrested a 23-year-old man, Innocent Owusu, for the alleged murder of his father, Peter Owusu, aged 59, at their residence in Likpe Abrani.

The incident occurred on December 30, 2025. According to the Oti Regional Police Command, the suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended at a hideout in the forest near Abrani following swift intelligence-led operations.

Police recovered the decapitated body and head of the deceased, which have since been deposited at the Hohoe Government Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Innocent Owusu is currently in custody assisting with investigations.

The Oti Regional Police Command has commended the residents of Likpe Abrani for their prompt support in helping officers locate and arrest the suspect.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family in this moment of grief,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police John Nchor, Public Affairs Officer for the region.

The case has sparked concern across the region, with community leaders calling for calm as investigations continue.
