The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has confirmed the death of a second-year student following a fall from an off-campus hostel over the weekend.
In a press statement issued on Monday, university authorities said the deceased, Mr. Ransford Amankwah Asomani, a Bachelor of Science student pursuing Agribusiness Management, fell from the second floor of a hostel facility in Ayeduase during the early hours of Sunday, February 8.
According to preliminary reports, fellow students rushed him to the KNUST Hospital with assistance from the KNUST District Police Patrol Team. However, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The university indicated that Mr. Asomani’s family has been informed and his body deposited at the hospital morgue pending autopsy.
Management expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and the university community, describing the incident as unfortunate and distressing.
University authorities further disclosed that the KNUST Police, working together with campus security services, have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials say further updates will be provided once investigations are concluded.
KNUST reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
