KNUST runs 299 unaccredited programmes – Auditor General

The Auditor General in a report addressed to the Speaker of Parliament Hon. Alban Bagbin, revealed that out of 360 programmes offered at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST), only 61 are accredited.

“we noted that out of the 360 programmes run by the University, only 61 have been accredited, 190 sent to National Accreditation Board (NAB) for accreditation and reaccreditation with 109 yet to be sent to NAB for accreditation.” The report indicated.

Meanwhile, the report recommended that management ceases running unaccredited programmes or programmes with expired accreditation certificates to avoid sanctions by the National Accreditation Board(NAB), the body responsible for accrediting both public and private institutions and their programs.

This revelation has been met with shock by some section of Ghanaians who believe that the management of the reputable academic institution has done a poor job leading to these events.
