IGP Deploys Special Team to Gbenjiyiri Following Reprisal Attacks

 The Inspector General of Police has deployed a special team to Gbenjiyiri in the Savannah Region after reprisal attacks between some Brifo and Fulani groups in the town.

According to a statement issued by the Regional Police Headquarters on March 11, 2026, the team, made up of intelligence officers and investigators, has been tasked to support the Regional Command in intensifying security and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice.

The release assured the public that calm has since been restored in the community, with efforts ongoing to arrest those behind the violence.

ASP Richard Osei Yaw, Staff Officer for the Savannah Regional Command, signed the statement, reaffirming the Police Service’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the area.

The deployment underscores the Ghana Police Service’s resolve to respond swiftly to community conflicts and safeguard lives and property across the country.
