The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, MP, has directed the Technical Advisor to the Ministry, Dr. Korku Awoonor, to constitute a technical working group to undertake a comprehensive audit of all health facilities in the Oti Region.
The audit will assess the structural integrity, operational capacity, and overall productivity of the facilities, with the aim of strengthening service delivery and safeguarding patient safety.
The directive, issued during the Ministry of Health’s two-day management retreat, forms part of Government’s broader agenda to improve oversight of health infrastructure and ensure that public health facilities nationwide consistently meet approved safety, quality, and performance standards.
As a complementary measure, the Health Minister has also ordered the introduction of 24-hour cleaning services in all public hospitals across the country. The intervention is designed to improve hygiene standards, strengthen infection prevention and control, and create safer, more patient-friendly healthcare environments.
Together, these initiatives underscore the Ministry’s commitment to raising standards across the health sector through proactive supervision, improved facility management, and sustained investments in quality healthcare delivery.
