The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has held discussions with the German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Frederik Landshöft, on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the education sector, with a particular focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The meeting explored opportunities to deepen collaboration between Ghana and Germany in skills development and workforce preparation, highlighting the importance of international partnerships in equipping young people with practical competencies for the evolving labour market.

During the discussions, Mr. Iddrisu underscored the strategic role of TVET in Ghana’s education transformation agenda, noting that strengthening technical and vocational training is critical to improving employability and addressing industry skills gaps.

The Education Minister emphasized that strong partnerships with development partners such as Germany can help enhance educational outcomes and support the development of a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of modern industries.

He further noted that collaboration in TVET would contribute to aligning training programmes with labour market needs, thereby creating greater opportunities for young people to secure decent employment and contribute to national development.

The discussions also highlighted the shared commitment of Ghana and Germany to advancing education and skills development through cooperation and knowledge exchange.

The engagement reaffirms Ghana’s commitment to working closely with international partners to strengthen the education sector and expand access to quality skills training for the country’s youth.

Both sides expressed optimism that continued collaboration would support initiatives aimed at empowering young people with industry-relevant competencies, fostering innovation and building a productive workforce to drive Ghana’s socio-economic development.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Education to leverage strategic partnerships to enhance education delivery and promote skills development as a key pillar of national growth.
