GES Clears Three Years’ Academic Intervention Arrears for SHS Staff

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the clearance of three years’ arrears owed to eligible staff of Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTSs) under the Academic Intervention programme.

The payment covers the 2023/2024, 2024/2025, and 2025/2026 academic years, and is aimed at strengthening staff motivation to deliver enhanced academic support to students.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Unit at GES Headquarters, the Service acknowledged the patience and understanding of staff during the period of delay and assured stakeholders of its continued commitment to quality education.

“The clearance of arrears reflects management’s resolve to prioritize staff welfare and ensure that academic intervention programmes are sustained to improve learning outcomes,” the release noted.

The announcement comes as part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Education and GES to reinforce teaching and learning at the secondary level, particularly in the wake of reforms designed to improve performance and bridge learning gaps.

The release, signed by Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi, reaffirmed GES’s dedication to supporting teachers and maintaining confidence in the education system.
