Ga and Dangme to Be Integrated Into Digital Platforms – Education Minister

The Minister of Education, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, has assured the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, that Ghanaian languages including Ga and Dangme will be integrated into future digital and AI-driven education platforms, notably Google’s Gemini initiative.

Speaking during an engagement with the Ga Mantse, the Minister emphasized that language is central to culture and learning, stressing that while English remains Ghana’s official language, indigenous languages must be promoted, particularly at the early stages of education.

He revealed that plans are underway to expand AI language coverage to all 12 Ghana Education Service (GES)-approved indigenous languages, adding that a National Indigenous Languages Conference will soon be convened to advance this agenda.

In a gesture of support for education, Hon. Iddrisu donated GHS 100,000 to the Ga Mantse Educational Fund, commending the traditional leader for his impactful contributions to education and youth development.

The Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring that technology-driven education reflects Ghana’s cultural identity, while empowering future generations through both modern innovation and indigenous heritage.
