Foreign Affairs Minister to Engage Ghanaian Community in Ottawa

The Ghana High Commission in Ottawa has invited members of the Ghanaian community in Canada to participate in a special community engagement with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, during his visit to Canada.

In a public notice, the High Commission announced that the minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, will visit Ottawa on October 24, 2026, as part of efforts to engage Ghanaians living in Canada and discuss issues affecting the diaspora community.

The engagement is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. EDT at the Preston Event Centre, 523 St. Anthony Street, Ottawa.

According to the High Commission, the event will provide an opportunity for the Ghanaian community to interact directly with the minister, share perspectives and concerns, and exchange views on matters of interest to Ghanaians residing in Canada.

The mission said the dialogue forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen relations between the Government of Ghana and its diaspora population, while promoting engagement on national and community development issues.

The High Commission urged all members of the Ghanaian community in Ottawa and surrounding areas to attend and actively participate in the discussions.

It expressed optimism that the meeting would foster fruitful and constructive exchanges between the minister and members of the community.

The engagement is expected to provide a platform for participants to raise concerns, seek clarifications on issues affecting Ghanaians abroad and explore ways of deepening collaboration between the diaspora and Ghana’s development agenda.
