Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has called on women in leadership positions to deliberately create opportunities for younger women and girls to rise and excel in their chosen fields.
He made the appeal at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences (GAAS) Women’s Awards, where he represented the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu.
Addressing participants at the event, Dr. Apaak congratulated the award recipients for their outstanding contributions to national development across various sectors, describing their achievements as a testament to hard work, dedication and resilience.
He stressed that leadership should not be measured solely by personal accomplishments but by the ability to positively impact society and inspire future generations.
According to him, women who have attained leadership positions have an important responsibility to mentor and support young girls, helping them to recognize their potential and pursue their aspirations with confidence.
Dr. Apaak encouraged the award winners to serve as role models and agents of change by opening doors for other women and creating pathways for greater female participation in leadership and decision-making.
The awards ceremony was held under the theme, “Breaking Barriers and Building Nations: Celebrating Women in Outstanding Leadership in Ghana.”
The event recognized women who have distinguished themselves through exemplary leadership, innovation and service in their respective professions and communities.
Participants highlighted the importance of promoting gender equality and increasing opportunities for women to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The Deputy Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that empower women and girls through education, mentorship and leadership development, noting that inclusive development requires the active participation of women at all levels of society.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed call for sustained efforts to break barriers, nurture future leaders and build a more inclusive and prosperous nation.
