The Commonwealth Observer Group to Bangladesh, led by former Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo‑Addo, paid a courtesy call on Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss preparations for the upcoming national elections and referendum scheduled for 12 February. Discussions centered on the mandate of the Observer Group, which is tasked with assessing the conduct of the polls and ensuring that democratic standards are upheld.
Officials noted that the engagement underscored the Commonwealth’s commitment to supporting credible electoral processes and fostering transparency. The Observer Group is expected to meet with a wide range of stakeholders in the days leading up to the vote, including political parties, civil society organizations, and election authorities.
