Bono Police Recover Five Firearms After Shootout

The Bono Regional Police Command has recovered five assorted firearms following an intelligence-led operation against suspected robbery gangs in the region.

On February 11, 2026, police intelligence revealed a planned gang attack on traders traveling along the Dormaa-Gonokrom highway. Surveillance teams were deployed to avert the robbery.

The following day, officers encountered gunfire near a parked motorbike. Police returned fire, resulting in the death of one male suspect. An AK47 rifle was found beside him.

A subsequent search uncovered a sack containing additional weapons and ammunition, including two Baikal single-barrel guns, one pump-action gun, a Beretta pistol with 37 rounds of ammunition, another AK47 rifle with 21 rounds of ammunition, 39 rounds of BB cartridges, a dagger, a mobile phone, a Honda motorbike, a black mask, and a set of talisman.

The deceased’s body has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation, identification, and autopsy.

The Bono Regional Police Command assured the public that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the remaining gang members. Authorities have urged residents to provide credible information to assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice and enhancing security across the region.
