Black Queens Begin Birmingham Camp Ahead of England Friendly

The Black Queens commenced their training camp in Birmingham on Thursday as preparations gathered pace for their upcoming international friendly against England’s Lionesses.

Sixteen players reported on the opening day, marking the start of an important phase under head coach Kim Lars Björkegren.

The team held its first practice at Bodymoor Heath, Aston Villa’s renowned training facility, which provides world-class conditions for their build-up.

Initial drills emphasized swift ball movement, rapid transitions, and strengthening team chemistry among the early arrivals. Björkegren used the session to set the tempo and reinforce tactical instructions as the side readies for a stern challenge.

Four more players are expected to join before Friday’s training, bringing the squad to twenty as final preparations continue.

Ghana will face the Lionesses on December 2, 2025, at St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton.

The fixture forms part of the Black Queens’ broader programme ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in March 2026, where competitive sharpness will be vital.
