Bank of Ghana Governor Engages Content Creators on Service Export Proceeds

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, has met with Ghanaian X content creators at Bank Square to discuss concerns surrounding access to digital platform payouts.

The engagement follows the Bank’s April 20 statement clarifying that such inflows are classified as service export proceeds under existing foreign exchange regulations. These may be received through Foreign Exchange Accounts held with banks in Ghana or directly into Ghana Cedi accounts, provided transactions comply with regulatory requirements.

Dr. Asiama assured the creators that the Bank values their work “just like the export of cocoa,” and pledged support in resolving payout challenges. “Therefore, if you have any issues with your payouts, we are ready to help. We are making ourselves accessible so that we resolve all the issues that you have,” he said.

He further encouraged the creators to organise into a formal association to enable structured engagement with the Bank. “We are interested in what you are doing and will do everything to facilitate your work,” he added.

The meeting underscores the Bank’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s growing digital economy and ensuring that creators benefit fully from their contributions to the export services sector.
