Ashanti Regional Police Arrest Five in Robbery and Murder Cases

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with a series of armed robberies, including the murder of a 28-year-old woman at Asokore Mampong.

In a press briefing on Monday, December 15, 2025, Regional Commander DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto confirmed that two suspects—Farouk Iddris, 20, and Salim Mohammed, 19—were apprehended following intelligence-led operations. The pair, both motorbike mechanics, allegedly robbed and fatally stabbed Silver Ngozi on December 6.

A search of their hideout in Aboabo led to the recovery of offensive weapons, including a zigzag-edged knife identified by Salim as the murder weapon. An iPhone 11 Pro belonging to the deceased was also retrieved.

In a related operation, three additional suspects—Abdul Fatawu alias “UN”, Philip Nyarko alias “Kawawa”, and Samak Hadi alias “Toronto”—were arrested for a string of street robberies across Kumasi and surrounding areas. Items recovered include 59 iPhones, six Android phones, four tablets, and five laptops.

All suspects are in custody assisting with investigations and will be arraigned in court. The Police Command has urged victims to come forward and assist with ongoing inquiries, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
