The Bank of Ghana(BoG) has urged all Ghanaians to accept the one peswa and five peswas coins and trade with it.
Head of currency Management Department at the BoG, Domnic Owusu told TV3’s Manu Afful that, the coins is still a legal tender hence as good citizens, Ghanaians must use it.
Some traders said ” it is useless because you cannot even get pure water at 20 peswas and so the one peswa, what will you use it to buy”?.
But Mr. Owusu urged both traders and customers to mqke it a priority to use the coins.
He added that, ” If you remove the one peswa coin or it doesn’t exist, it means you start rounding up prices and that is not an internationally acceptable practice.
