Nonperforming Ministers should be sacked – Majority Leader

The Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has stated on Tv3 morning show ‘New Day’ that  nonperforming Minister should be sacked for new person to be appointed.

He told  Berla Mundi,  host of   Tv3 morning show  ‘New Day ‘ on Wednesday August 10. The majority leader said if ministers are not able to perform there is the need for the president to sack them them not to reshuffle them to a different position.

“If you are not able to perform, it is not a matter of reshuffle, you should be fired by the President and a new person brought in,” he  again mentioned  that

“I am talking about the general principle now,”  When asked by the host, Berla Mundi , whether he knew about some ministers who are performing poorly, he  stated further that

“You must do a critical analysis about the performance, the person who conducts the test is the person who nominates.”

The Suame Lawmaker further proposed that henceforth, Ministers who are moved to serve in other ministerial positions should be vetted again by the appointment committee of Parliament.

This,  according to him, will test whether or not these ministers  are fit for the new role assigned to them.

He explained that  if there should be reshuffle those people should come back to parliament to be vetted again. H e further explained that it is only fair to re-examine them.

“If there should be a reshuffle, those people should be come back to Parliament for us to assess them whether they are competent in the new areas that they are going so,” he said.

“Parliament agrees that once you are vetted for a position you should stay there,” he concluded.
