IGP Promotes 17 Officers for Exemplary Service

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, promoted seventeen police officers in recognition of their outstanding professionalism and dedication to duty.

The officers earned their elevation following their pivotal roles in separate operations that led to major breakthroughs in the fight against crime. Notably, their efforts resulted in the interception of ten wrapped slaps of substances suspected to be cocaine, valued at an estimated GHC 1,032,650.00, along with sacks of suspected narcotic drugs in Ho, Volta Region. In another operation at Jacobu, the officers recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, and eight live AAA rounds of ammunition during a routine patrol.

At a brief ceremony, the IGP, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), congratulated the officers and commended them for upholding the core values of the Service—discipline, courage, and professionalism.

Mr Yohuno urged the newly promoted officers to see their advancement as a call to higher responsibility. He encouraged all personnel of the Ghana Police Service to continue working diligently, assuring them that excellence and integrity remain the foundation for recognition and promotion within the Service.
