The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has inaugurated the Governing Board of the newly established Ghana Sports Fund, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen sports development.
For years, athletes, federations and stakeholders have called for a fair, transparent and dedicated system to support sports growth. The inauguration of the Board signals the beginning of an institutional framework to translate those aspirations into action.
Hon. Adams expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his leadership and commitment to repositioning sport as a meaningful pillar of national development. He described the establishment of the Fund as a promise fulfilled, noting that it embodies equity, planning and responsibility.
“The Fund is about creating opportunity across all sports, supporting talent at every level, and building a sustainable future for Ghanaian sport,” the Minister stated.
He wished the members of the Governing Board well as they take on their national responsibility, emphasizing the significance of the task ahead and the trust placed in them.
The Ghana Sports Fund is expected to provide structured support for athletes, federations and sporting initiatives, ensuring a sustainable and inclusive approach to sports development.
“This is a step forward for Ghanaian sport,” Hon. Adams affirmed.
